Opera was born in Italy in the first half of the 17th century. Since its origins until the Wagnerian lyrical theatre and the consequent establishment of the "national schools" all over the world (except for France) and the experience of the "Singspiel" in Germany, Opera has not spoken other language except Italian.
This course provides essential information on several operas, with the listening of some of the arias from these operas with specific programs for beginners, intermediate or advanced.
You will improve your language skills in Italian language starting from a text reference of any opera works from the origins to the present day (the text can be suggested by the same participant).
The teacher will guide you to the comprehension of the text and the linguistic peculiarities of the musical period.
The course aims not only at providing knowledge of the language of opera, but also at improving your general knowledge of the Italian language.
This activity will be carried out by the teacher who will deepen historical, poetic, stylistic, formal and general music aspects of the chosen text.
